The Steinhäule Treatment plant administrative union

The “Steinhäule Treatment Plant Administrative Union” (Zweckverband Klärwerk Steinhäule) is an association comprising the cities of Ulm, Neu-Ulm, Senden, Blaubeuren and Blaustein and the municipalities of Berghülen, Dornstadt, Illerkirchberg, Illerrieden, Merklingen, Schnürpflingen and Staig. The treatment plant covers close to 62 acres and treats wastewater of around 220,000 people as well as industrial and commercial wastewater corresponding to a population equivalent of around 220,000 (PE) in the catchment area.

The association’s task is to clean the wastewater produced in the area and to dispose of or recycle the waste accumulated in the treatment process. This has to comply with given rules and regulations.
