Treatment plant
The “Steinhäule Treatment Plant” on the river Danube treats the wastewater of around 220,000 people and the additional wastewater for a population equivalent of 220,000 (PE) from the catchment area of the administrative union. The population equivalent is a measure of commercial/industrial-related wastewater pollution load to that of humans for measurement purposes. The system is able to handle a total population of 440,000 (PE). Currently, wastewater is treated in four stages and then introduced back into the water cycle.
